ALL ABOUT BURN YOUR BRA FOR BEV

Why Burn your Bra for Bev Cancer Fundraiser?

The Burn your Bra (BYB) fundraising dinner was initially inspired by Jody Gleeson as a way for her to support and create awareness for a disease that hits close to home after the tragic loss of her mother. In doing so Jody brought together some friends and family who had experienced similar losses. After the huge success of the first Burn your Bra for Breast Cancer dinner in 2005 which raised over $20, 000, it was decided that this would become an annual event each year supporting different causes.

Tragically,in 2006 the committee experienced a great loss the sudden passing of Bev Griffith. For that reason, Burn your Bra will now be known as Burn your Bra for Bev, in order to commemorate the impact she will forever have on our devotion to the causes. The sadness translated into motivation and commitment to date Burn your Bra for Bev has raised over $300, 000.

Each year the Burn Your Bra for Bev Committee will strive to raise funds in memory of all of our lost loved ones to these horrible diseases, just as Bev would have done.

What does the Burn Your Bra for Bev Night Include?

  • Great food (Leatherworks);
  • Cocktails (served by the Mississippi Mills Fire Department);
  • Live music
  • Silent auction and live auction (Auctioneer - John O'Neil);
  • Emcee - Leanne Cusack and Chris Ryan
  • Lots of laughs.

How are Tickets Sold?

Each year tables are assigned to 55 table hosts, each table host is responsible for filling 10 seats at their table with guests of their choice. Table hosts also coordinate the decorating of their table, the table decorating and competition has become a big part of the light hearted fun of the BYB4B evening.

How Do I Get a Ticket?

Each year we ask that the existing table hosts secure their table with payment made before April 10th at the Royal Bank (Pakenham branch). Following that date all unpaid tickets will be picked up and offered (by way of lottery) to the over 500 ladies waiting for a seat. If you are interested in being added to the list, please contact Jody Gleeson at wattscookingjody@yahoo.ca.
